St. Lawrence Parish has a rich history in both Cincinnati and the Price Hll neighborhood. The following brief history comes courtesy of WikipediA:
"St. Lawrence Church (Cincinnati) is a Roman Catholic church located at 3680 Warsaw Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was the first Catholic church in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Price Hill. The church was built on one of the highest hilltops in Cincinnati. The mother parish was St. Michael's in lower Price Hill.
St Lawrence Church was organized at Mt. St. Mary's Seminary in 1868 under the direction of Rev. J. M. Bonner. A tract of land was purchased and a building erected which was dedicated June 12, 1870. In 1886, work was begun on the present gothic structure, and the cornerstone was laid October 16, 1886. The basement was dedicated May 22, 1887. The superstructure was completed and the new church dedicated September 30, 1894 by Archbishop William Henry Elder. The new church is 72 x 165 feet and cost $106,000. In 1896, the congregation numbered 475 families.
The church is still operating today along with the elementary school attached. The current paster is Fr. Mark Watkins and current school principal is Mr. Richard Klus. The school has over 30 faculty members serving preschool through eighth grade."
Those of us lucky enough to pass through St. Lawrence School can look back on a very special education, leading to great rewards in both our spiritual, personal, and professional lives. Many of us still live in the Price Hill and Western Hills areas of Cincinnati. Others have spread out to the far reaches of the world. But most of us still call Price Hill "home". And, of course, some of us have gone home to our eternal rewards.
While many individual classes have held reunions over the years, there've been few large reunions. That changed on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Twenty-one classes, from 1955 through 1975, joined together to celebrate old times, catch up on new times, and enjoy each others' company. There were many laughs and lies to make the evening more interesting ... all in good fun.
This was a party and was held in the Parish Center that Saturday evening. If you were lucky enough to graduate or just had been a member in one of these 21 classes from St. Lawrence Grade School, you joined us as we "made merry" in the old schoolhouse.
